Haarlem/Campinas-São Paulo(The Netherlands/Brazil) – In August 2004, UniSoma Matemática para Produtividade S/A and Paragon Decision Technology BV signed an AIMMS Service Partnership Agreement. UniSoma has been using the AIMMS modeling system since the mid-nineties, providing a service to their clients in both application development and consultancy specializing in integrated production and logistics planning solutions.

The partnership of UniSoma and Paragon is expected to result in the delivery of combined services to Latin American countries. While Paragon will deliver its standard optimization tool, UniSoma will develop AIMMS’ solutions for UniSoma’s and Paragon’s customers in Latin America. The consultancy experience of UniSoma will allow AIMMS’ customers in this region to benefit from a local service party. The combined experience should result in an ongoing improvement of UniSoma’s services, a better service for Latin American customers, and improvements in the AIMMS’ software.

Experiences such as those UniSoma has had with Sadia and, more recently, with Perdigão, two of the largest poultry producers in Brazil, are good examples of how planning integration can be achieved across the entire supply and production chain of a large enterprise through the application of new planning paradigms, mathematical modeling, and the flexibility provided by a standard optimization tool such as AIMMS. A similar example is the decision support tools delivered to Companhia Siderurgica de Tubarão, one of the largest steel producers in Brazil.

About UniSoma Matemática para Produtividade

UniSoma, established in 1984 by Miguel Taube-Netto, is a Brazilian consultancy company specializing in the development and implementation of integrated production and logistics planning solutions.

UniSoma develops supply chain management (SCM) solutions, also known as Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS), using multidimensional representations of physical, economic, and management attributes and constraints. It avoids implementing such solutions through the use of simply configured Industry Templates with minimal customization capability (unlike many Tier-One SCM providers) since this approach has resulted in many failed projects around the globe. Instead, it seeks to combine the modeling experience of a seasoned group of experts with an understanding of its clients’ business and organizational environments to achieve, through a collaborative effort, superior planning integration and coordination.

Industry sectors to which UniSoma has delivered AIMMS-based solutions include:

  • Integrated Meat Production (Poultry, Swine, and meat processing)
  • Pulp & Paper
  • Steel
  • Iron Ore Production
  • Energy
  • Pharmaceutical
  •  Manufacturing
  • Financial Services
