AIMMS for Business
Americas Events: CAPD 2012
On March 12-13, the Annual Meeting of the Center of Advanced Process Decision Making, CAPD, will be held at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA). Once each year, CAPD brings together the academic and business worlds to share ideas, insights and accomplishments in co-operation with final-year PhD students. We are pleased to announce that Asst. Professor Willem-Jan van Hoeve will present the integration of AIMMS+CP during this year’s meeting.

EMEA News: Shell and ORTEC sign a new long-term partnership
Shell Global Solutions International B.V. and AIMMS’ partner ORTEC — a leading supplier in resource optimization tools and consulting services — work closely together on a worldwide scale. This co-operation between Shell and ORTEC focuses on the optimization of supply chain processes and strategic decision making in upstream and downstream engineering disciplines such as planning & scheduling, gas field production capacity optimization, spare parts management and cost estimating. EMEA Events: Senior Executive event with Stanford Professor Sam Savage
Prof. Sam Savage, author of ‘The Flaw of Averages‘, has been invited by Paragon and ORTEC to share a new approach in portfolio optimization before a select group of senior executives in the European Oil and Gas market. Today’s world economy is driven by global uncertainties such as exchange rates, political upheaval and energy prices, which are then layered upon local uncertainties involving individual project variables. Given these uncertainties, Petroleum and Gas firms must find a way to allocate their exploration budgets across diverse geographical regions and new technologies. These uncertainties create an unprecedented number of interdependent risks, which need to be included in portfolio management.

AP News: Operations Research in Vietnam – Vietnam MW
In February, our Paragon representative visited Vietnam MW, a consultancy company specializing in the power sector. Vietnam MW has developed two applications with AIMMS for hydro power plants and thermal power plants and both will prove especially useful given the upcoming changes in the Vietnam electricity market. Feedback from their first customer shows, once again, that by employing AIMMS, someone with knowledge of industry and optimization can build very valuable applications within a very short time frame.
AP Events: INFORMS 2012 Beijing Conference
Please join us June 24-27, 2012 at the INFORMS International Conference in Beijing, China.
As a sponsor of the INFORMS conference, we will be present on the exhibition floor with on-the-spot demonstrations and a presentation to conference participants. Please contact us to arrange for a demonstration on a specific topic or to meet our AIMMS experts.
It is not often that such a large operations research conference is held in Asia, and this is a great opportunity to share the cool things you have done (with AIMMS ) to a larger audience. If you are interested in contributing, the abstract submission deadline is March 5.

AIMMS Product News
Preview of upcoming Feature Releases
To better support the users that develop applications with a graphical interface that needs to run using a 64-bit version of AIMMS, we are currently working on updating some of the GUI object that had no 64-bit support (e.g. 2D/3D charts, Tabbed IDE style). From an algorithmic standpoint, we are integrating the latest version of BARON 10 and improving the GMP version of the AOA algorithm for convex MINLP problems.
These developments are planned for upcoming Feature Releases of AIMMS 3.13.
Jobs: We are hiring
