AIMMS Reference Cases
We are currently finalizing the development of the new version of AIMMS. A release candidate is already available from our website so you can try out the new features. We expect to publish the full maintenance release in the fourth quarter of 2007. The new and updated features in this version include:
- Benders decomposition for stochastic programming
- Nonlinear pre-solve
- Multi-start solve
- Extensions of GUI objects: Network object, GIS link, pivot table

With the release of AIMMS 3.8, we will also introduce a new product: the free AIMMS Viewer. A release candidate of the Viewer is available from our website. Users of the Viewer can browse the data of an AIMMS-application using the full GUI, enabling you to easily share your optimization results.

This summer we have opened a third office in Singapore to serve the Asia-Pacific market. With this new addition to our existing offices in the Netherlands and the USA, we can now offer round-the-clock support to our customers all over the world. Our Singapore office will also be used as a stepping stone to extend our business in the Asia-Pacific region.

AIMMS is now an industrial participant of the Center for Advanced Process Decision-Making (CAPD), a Carnegie Mellon University Research Center engaged in Process Systems Engineering Research for the Process Industries. AIMMS will support the CAPD goals to develop and advance modeling and solution methods for process systems engineering.

Our AIMMS Service Partners are successful in delivering AIMMS-based optimization applications to a growing number of customers. For example, Outperform has recently delivered a master production planning application for Remia and a supply chain network analysis application for Baltic Beverages Holding.
We are extending our network of AIMMS Service Partners. Currently, we are in discussions with several consulting companies that use Operations Research techniques in countries such as Argentina, Belgium, and Germany. Consulting companies, that would like to make AIMMS a strategic part of their business service, are invited to contact us to discuss partnership opportunities.

Many of our customers are using AIMMS to solve nonlinear problems (e.g. oil blending, risk management, chemical processing). Over the years, AIMMS has been extended with many nonlinear solvers, including KNITRO, BARON and LGO. KNITRO is special because of the use of 3 different algorithms and thus handling a broader class of nonlinear problems easier; BARON and LGO allow you to find global optimal nonlinear solutions.
We invite you to test these nonlinear solvers for yourself to find out how these solvers can help you. Contact us for a temporary trial license, or request a trial license on our website that includes all the aforementioned solvers.

Unisoma, AIMMS Service Partner in Brazil, has developed an AIMMS-based optimization component for CST´s Supply Chain Network Planning, and integrated it into SAP APO through SAP XI (NetWeaver). This optimization component will support the strategic decision process about the production mix, taking into account the customer profitability as well as the production and logistics capacities for CST and its subsidiary Vega do Sul, something that could not be represented inside Supply Network Planning (SNP) module of SAP APO.

September 5-7, OR 2007 conference, Saarbrücken, Germany
We will contribute two presentations at the annual German OR conference: a general software presentation, and a presentation on production planning using the stochastic programming features in AIMMS.
September 25-28, SEIO 2007 conference, Valladolid, Spain
At this large Spanish OR conference, we will introduce AIMMS with an exhibit and a presentation on optimization modeling and application development with AIMMS.
November 4-7, INFORMS Annual Meeting, Seattle, USA
This year, the annual INFORMS conference is coming to Seattle, the home town of our US office. There will be many opportunities to learn about AIMMS, including a free pre-conference workshop (November 3) and exciting presentations:
- Collaborative AIMMS/KNITRO workshop by Paragon & Ziena Optimization: learn how to work with AIMMS and solve nonlinear models with KNITRO.
- Nonlinear Programming: Improving nonlinear solutions by using AIMMS’ presolve and multi-start algorithms.
- Stochastic Optimization / Large Scale Optimization: An open approach to Benders decomposition for stochastic models in AIMMS.
- Modeling Systems & Language: AIMMS, how to enhance and improve OR usability.
- Decision Support Systems: Bringing Operations Research to the forefront

We offer 2-day AIMMS workshops where you learn how to use and enjoy AIMMS, in small groups and with hands-on exercises. To serve customers around the world, we have conveniently scheduled workshops at each of our three support offices:
- September 19 & 20 in Haarlem (Netherlands),
- October 18 & 19 in Singapore,
- November 8 & 9 in Kirkland, WA (USA),
- November 28 & 29 in Haarlem (Netherlands).
A shorter pre-conference workshop, which is free to attend for INFORMS conference participants, will be given on November 3 in Seattle (see item above).
