Windows Help Files can not run a macro on Windows Vista

  • AIMMS 3 series under the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system

 

Summary

Windows Help for Windows Vista displays an error message stating that there was a problem running a macro.

Symptoms

Users will receive the following error message when help files are opened:

    There was a problem running the macro. (1037)

Cause

By default, several macros are disabled in Windows Help for Windows Vista.

Resolution

A registry settings needs to be added/changed in order to allow macro running again.

Make sure the following registry (sub)key exists:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WinHelp

Next add a DWORD value named AllowProgrammaticMacros to this subkey and set its value to 1.
